Riverlands Solar Farm
9 MW solar farm on the West Coast near Malmesbury, serving agri-processing and commercial off-takers in the Swartland corridor.

Location
Riverlands sits in the Swartland — the Western Cape's wheat and canola belt, between Malmesbury and Darling. The region's agri-processing sector runs grain mills, oil presses, and cold storage that demand reliable baseload power. The West Coast corridor's grid infrastructure connects Riverlands to commercial loads in Malmesbury, Darling, and the broader Swartland district. Low rainfall and high direct irradiance make the Swartland one of the Western Cape's most productive solar zones.
Project story
Riverlands emerged from the same Western Cape expansion that produced the Oudtshoorn and Stanford projects. A Swartland grain farmer with fallow land along the N7 corridor saw solar as a way to diversify income without selling the farm. The 58-hectare site is flat, dry, and unirrigated — ideal for solar and unsuitable for the intensive agriculture that supports the rest of the property.
The PPA model at Riverlands targets the Swartland's agri-processing sector directly. Grain mills and cold-storage operations in the district face rising Eskom tariffs and increasing load-shedding exposure. A 9 MW direct PPA provides a meaningful portion of their baseload at a locked-in tariff, with none of the capital outlay of self-generation.
At 9 MW, Riverlands is the smallest project in the Western Cape portfolio. It complements the larger Oudtshoorn and Stanford developments, demonstrating AEEG's ability to operate across project scales without losing the relationship-first approach that defines the company.
